When you want to dye your brows back to the original color, use a facial hair dye kit that is one shade lighter than your original brow. “Bleached brows will soak up color quickly and go dark easily,” says Scott. But you may very well find with a dramatic new look and more room to play with your makeup, brow-less is more. If you’ve searched “best haircuts for round faces,” you’re certainly not alone. “With round face shapes, you need to create interest and angles in the haircut to elongate the face,” says Dom Seeley, Color Wow’s international creative director. “Longer lengths are more suited to this face shape for that reason too, and it’s always better to style it in soft waves, adding body and volume. This can help open up the cheekbone and jawline area and add width and angles to help offset roundness.” Hairstylist Frederic Fekkai is also a fan of creating sharpness and angles to soften a rounder face shape, suggesting “longer layers and choppy pixie cuts” as great options. “I love bangs and longer hair to help minimize roundness,” he says. “And a good styling tip is to wear hair swept to the side.” When it comes to bangs, keep them long and loose, rather than ultra short and bluntly cut, as it’s more forgiving on the face.
“Allow your brows to dry completely to judge the color and decide if you want to go over them with bleach again,” says Scott, who cautions that you should wait at least 20 minutes in between. “Don’t do more than two passes of bleach to your brows in one day. If after two passes your brows didn’t lighten enough, the bleach can probably stand to sit on your brows for a bit longer. I usually aim to bring the brow color close to the skin tone as opposed to fully platinum on everyone, because no nude is universal.” If the hairs have unwanted orange or yellow tones, both pros advise applying a blue or purple toner for a few minutes to remove brassiness.
